Not completely there yet to being a proper Amazon bestseller, marketing a book in the current world cluttered with a plethora of books, movies, influencer content, and the like is really difficult.

Very excited to get my Kirkus review back, with the coveted GET IT verdict!
Kirkus is not as familiar to the average reader, but it is known to bookstores and libraries, who use it as a way to help judge the quality of a self-published book. Kirkus is NOTORIOUS for being mean to Indie authors like myself and being very critical.
With my positive BookLife and Kirkus reviews, I have a much better chance of being considered by Barnes & Nobles and other prestigious venues for book signings or being stocked on their shelves. A big win, yippeee!
Excerpts as follows:
“A nuanced and refreshingly entertaining take on the age-old debate between faith and reason ... Gupta offers a balanced take on what she views as the most and least convincing elements of both atheism and theism ... An accessible work for an agnostic audience often ignored in the debates between believers and naysayers.”

The eBook is in the last stages of finalizing. Finally got it to work on all eReaders flawlessly! Just adding ALT text to 173 images so that anyone visually impaired can enjoy the illustrations along with the rest of the book through a detailed, proper description of each image along with an explanation of the humor involved. I am personally doing each of these descriptions myself instead of using the AI generated version. Those seem to be quite generic.
I don`t want even one reader who honors me with their time to come away with anything less than an optimized experience. If they don`t like the book, that`s fine, but everyone should get an equitable, high-quality presentation when investing their energy in reading through my words. I feel bad that I wasn`t as aware of all this in the past, I will definitely make it a point to put ALT Text wherever possible going forward, including for this Social Media post.

Trying hard to publish soon, but running into one challenge after another! Print book is done, but the eBook is still in the works. We`ve been testing it on 6 eReading platforms: Kindle, Kobo, Nook, Calibre, Apple Books, and Google Play. Certain things break on certain readers, and we have to keep fiddling with the code to find a fix. We finally had it working on all 6, then we thought of testing on a color background and realized some of the 172 images had little imperfections that could be seen against color.
I`m itching to publish this and get it out there, but I`m forcing myself to take the time to do it right and upload the highest quality product possible.

Very excited to get my first professional, 3rd party review (besides the lovely beta readers who went through my book last year). BookLife, a branch of Publisher`s Weekly that reviews books written by indie authors like me, said the following:
"Gupta’s commentary is both witty and deeply insightful...handling even the touchiest subjects with humility and warmth. Gupta’s willingness to confront often-taboo topics is inviting...her reflections and questions will prompt readers to embark on their own search for answers."
To be fair, they did have one not-so-great comment, as follows:
"...she attempts levity through comical digital images (though many of these feel more out-of-place than convincing)."
I do agree that I gratuitously had some cartoons in my book that weren`t strictly necessary to the narrative I was presenting, but I don`t know if I would be willing to delete any of them, I love all my babies! They were so much fun to create, and I think they are fun for the reader. In fact, I had a few beta readers asking me to insert more cartoons.
So we`ll see what others say once I publish, but overall I am very happy with my BookLife review, and I appreciate their candid feedback.
